Joe has recorded various albums of jazz standards over the years, some of which you can listen to and buy here. A series of solo CDs (Tea for Two, After Hours, Stepping Out) which were commissioned by Harrods, London, were a sell-out and are sadly no longer available.
1. Oropa – “Into the Oasis” (CD 2018)
Into the Oasis is a new collaboration between Joe and the harpist Seana Davey, an album inspired by yoga, taking the form of a set of improvised compositions that relax and reassure.
2. “The Ivy Christmas Album” (CD/iTunes)
As featured on BBC Radio2, Jazz FM, Classic FM, and digital radio station ‘The Jazz’. When it was launched the Observer listed the album in its top 100 gift ideas from the Arts for Christmas.
“This album swings like no other Christmas album. Thompson refuses to adopt a ‘one-groove-fits-all’ approach and the result is perfection.”
Darren Henley, Managing Director, The Jazz
3. “Painting the town red” (CD/iTunes)
Joe’s trio album, a feast of innovative and delectable jazz featuring Ghanaian master drummer Nana Tsiboe on percussion and Chris Rodel on double bass.
“…(Joe is) totally on top of everything and a great player. I thought it was lovely.” The Observer jazz critic, Dave Gelly
4. “Things Ain’t What They Used To Be”
A sparkling trio CD featuring Colin Oxley on guitar and Mark Fenby on double bass.
